Rafael Rivera creates high resolution aerial pictures by shooting hundreds of photos, and then piecing them together like an intricate puzzle. In this way, his pictures offer a new perspective with the magnificent virtual viewpoint of extreme distance, and at the same time capture the grandeur and extreme detail of his subjects. Instead of limiting his pictures to a bird's eye view, he uses the helicopter as an extension to his tripod to find the best possible compositions. His wide angle aerial panoramas reveal a world of rich detail, showing everything as far as the eye can see.

I've never made a book before, but that is about to change. My current project is an extreme aerial photography book featuring the sparkling, sprawling landscapes of San Diego.  We call it, THE BIG PICTURE: SAN DIEGO. Why do we call it that, you ask?
